The Rain in Spain Falls Mainly on the Plain

It has rained, rained, and rained some more. It has rained so much that the satellite has gone on a semi-permanent fritz. This has actually been a good thing. The mind control device in my living room has done less mind control this week.

I apologize for blogger laziness. Contrary to popular belief it has not been a slow news cycle, I am just a bit schizoid about wanting to blog/chronicle.

In recent news, (Scary) D put the car into reverse as I was taking in the groceries recently. (Scarier) The driver's side door was open and he was in the front seat. (Sheer horror) There was nothing that could be done other than to scream, "Stayinthecar, STAYINTHECAR, HOLD ON TIGHT, DON'T LET GO!" While the family suburban backed down the driveway, crossed the street, bounded over the curb and onto the sidewalk and finally colliding with my neighbors retaining wall. At which point, I streaked across the street like the Human Torch and D put the car into D for DRIVE. I leapt into the car, shoving my dare-devil child into the passenger side and returned the death trap to the driveway. And upon stepping out on the grass, I collapsed into a mushy pile of frightened mama bits complete with wailing.

I would like to thank God for reminding me that life is precious, while simultaneously sparing me a life of guilt and torture considering that the street and the sidewalk were unusually devoid of traffic, children, or pets.
I would like to thank, Jesus, for giving me superpowers which set my mothering tones to stun so that D did not move and actually responded with "Okay, Mama."
I would like also to thank all the behind the scenes guardian angels that assisted in the endeavor.
And finally, I would like to thank all the local news media who filled my head with all the horror stories of children who were done to death by the family car in similar situations, because I never would have thought to tell him to stay put.

For three days, D volunteered to anyone who happened by, "I crashed! I wrecked the car!" Great.

Lord Have Mercy

China to Dynamite Marian Shrine
TIANJIAJING, China, JUNE 21, 2007 ( ).- The sanctuary of Our
Lady of Mount Carmel will be dynamited following a government decision
that the pilgrimage site is a place of illegal religious activity.

The Henan Province government will prevent the annual July 16
pilgrimage, which normally draws 40,000 pilgrims for the feast of Our
Lady of Mount Carmel, AsiaNews reported.

The shrine was built in 1903 by a priest from the Pontifical Institute
for Foreign Missions, Monsignor Stefano Scarsella, then apostolic
vicar to northern Henan. The shrine was meant to thank the Blessed
Virgin for preserving Christians from the dangers of the Boxer Rebellion.

The sanctuary lies in Tianjiajing, in the Diocese of Anyang, in a
scenic, mountainous area that some speculate will be used for a
commercial or government building.

The provincial government has mobilized 700 soldiers for military
exercises in the area since May 12, when the planned destruction was
announced. Roads leading to the shrine are closed and pedestrians who
go near the area are searched.

The faithful of the Diocese of Anyang, appealing through AsiaNews,
said: "We ask all our brothers and sisters in the Lord to pray for us
and spread our message to all the faithful of the world."

Tagged! I'm IT!

For this meme, each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules
of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At
the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then
goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have
been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

If you are not aware already, there is very little veiled about me.

1) I love my faith and I'm dying to share it, but I am a horrid evangelist.
2) I am a little afraid of my children. Especially if they knew all the awful stuff I've done or that I'm a bit of a fraud in the "mommy department".
3) I bite my finger nails and I have no intention of stopping today. Five children gives me a lot to chew about.
4) I am madly in love with my husband.
5) My favorite color is cerise.
6) I long to write well.
7)I am a newly christened homeschooler.
8) I am a trivia knowledge freak.

Who to tag? How about . . . Josephus at Byzantine, Texas,
and C.J. at Most Gladly,
and finally Little Lizzie.

Good night!
